Biography

Born in Catanzaro , Italy in 1974.

Studies in the Artistic High School (Liceo Artistico) of Catanzaro where he obtains his degree in 1992.

In 1993 he receives the Certificate of professional qualification: “Craftsman in sculpture on marble and stone,” a course sponsored by the region of Calabria.

Attends the Academy of Fine Arts “Raffello Sanzio” in Urbino, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in painting.
Title of the thesis: “The Cumbersome Body.”

Since childhood he feels the desire to draw everything that strikes his curiosity.
Growing up, he is influenced by his brother Marcello, and falls in love with the great artists of the Italian Renaissance: Leonardo, Raphael, and especially Michelangelo, of whom he reproduces small sections of the Sistine Chapel.
During high school, under the guide of professor Francesco Mete, he arrives to a conception of drawing based on Caravaggio’s work.

During his time in the Academy he continues the spasmodic research for perfection in his portraiture, which leads him to embrace the confrontation between the hand and the camera and to undertake various hyperrealist works in the following media: etching, lithography and charcoal on paper.

A lover of poetry he also writes verses.

He is also passionate about music and composes.
He plays various instruments, and in particular sings and plays the guitar.
In the summer of 1993, with his brother Marcello and with his friends Antonello and Marco, he forms the group “Amici d’Estate.”

Their success is reviewed in the section “Music and Entertainment” of the newspaper “Reportage,” in Lamezia Terme.
The music played by the group is considered a combination of melodic Italian style rock and abrasive American hard rock.
The teacher Michele Curcio, famous folk-song composer, says of them: “They are young men with a sure future, gifted with musical talent.”

In 1996 he wins in Urbino, with his friend Gianni, the contest for singer-songwriters “Il Portico,” the prize is given to them by singer-songwriter Ivan Graziani.

Since 1998 he lives in Bologna.

Studies jazz guitar.

In July 2000 he takes part in the musical festival “Arezzo Wave” with the group “Mollybeth,” which plays electronic music merged with hardcore and individual experimentation, finishing within the thirteen finalists in the category of new bands.

In June 2001 he participates in the 12th edition of the “City of Recanati Prize” which focused on new trends in Folk Song, winning first prize with the singer Alessia D’Andrea.

In the summers of 2001 and 2002, with the group “Contropelo,” made up of his brother Marcello and Francesco, his cousin Mino and his friends Laura, Valentino, and Luciano, he participates in musical shows in several piazze of several towns in Calabria and in assorted night clubs.

He meets the teacher Alessandro Giusberti in Bologna, who shares his love for the Old Masters.
Currently, he researches the artistic techniques of oil painters from the 18th and 19th centuries.
